Forms of memory foam pillow based on their construction

A variety of pillows are available in the market to suit everyone's needs, for example, feather, cotton, bamboo, and memory foam pillows. Most stores stock pillows for different ages, like memory foam pillows for kids, toddlers, teenagers, or adults. Pillows are designed using materials that make them suitable for their purposes. Each kind has a unique advantage that makes it favorable for one use and not the other. This post explains the various types of memory foam pillows.

Types of memory foam pillows

The market is full of memory foam pillows with different constructions. Despite being one form of a pillow, they have distinct differences caused by their characteristics. They include;

1. Shredded memory foam pillow

It is the most common in the market. The shredded material gives the pillow a soft feel similar to that of down. The amount of foam inside determines its size, and one main advantage is you can mold it to your liking. It's possible to reshape it for maximum comfort either by increasing or reducing the thickness. Unlike solid or conventional memory foam, shredded memory foam enhances airflow, therefore, reducing stuffiness and keeping the pillow cool by regulating heat. The material remains free from mites, bacteria, and mold since its synthetic. Memory foam pillows are ideal for all sleeping positions; on the side, stomach, back since they conform to your body structure.

2. Bamboo memory foam pillow

The pillow material is a mixture of foam and bamboo, creating a breathable combination that keeps the user and the pillow cool by regulating heat. Bamboo memory form is among the most expensive pillow materials due to the long preparation process. Bamboo fibers are burnt to charcoal first then mixed with foam. The bamboo amount infused into the foam gives it a soft silky feel and makes it more flexible; thus, you can mold it however you like. Bamboo has no allergic properties; therefore, anyone can use it. It's also resistant to bacteria and mold.

3. Silicone gel memory foam pillow

Gel pillows are not as ordinary as other memory foam pillows. However, their use has risen over time, and more people are embracing them. The gel in the form of beads is infused into the foam, creating spaces within since they don't fuse. The spaces allow the flow of air, which in turn promotes cooling within the pillow.

Some people often get hot at night, and having cushions that retain heat is a disadvantage. The beads give the pillow extra support and make it more long-lasting.  The gel makes the pillow firm yet, malleable for extra comfort, and you can position it to suit your needs. The gel pillow is ideal for side sleepers and inhibits joint pains, especially on the hips.

Final words

Memory foam pillows are one of the most recommended pillows by physical therapists. All three types adapt to your body shape, especially your back, which is prone to numerous aches. They align your spine, regulate body temperature, and keep the pillow cool.  They are available at different prices; however, they are all designed to add comfort and relaxation during your sleep.
